Emma Jackson checks in as her Olympic selection sinks in Stef Hanson. Chief. July 17, 2012 Professional Triathletes Hi ladies I can’t believe how quick this year is flying by, it only seems like yesterday we were still in 2011! A lot has happened since then though. The main thing for me, being selected into the Australian Olympic Triathlon Team for the London Olympic Games. For me representing Australia at the Olympic Games has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. I used to love watching it on TV and looking up to athletes such as Susie O’neill and Ian Thorpe. It’s crazy to think that in just under three weeks time, my race at the Olympics will be over. My preparation and training have been going really well at my European training base in Aix Les Bains, France, where I am here with other fellow Australian triathletes. Training has been very tough, but I have loved every second of it. It is amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it! I have definitely surprised myself in training and it is such a great feeling achieving something you didn’t think you could. Aix Les Bains is such a beautiful little town and it is surrounded by some very nice French countryside so that always makes it easier to get out the door and train. I love going on long rides here as the views are always amazing. However, there never seems to be any flat loops, so we are forever climbing hills! The swimming pool is a 100m walk away and they crystal blue lake is only 200m down the road. Such a perfect location! We have been fortunate enough to have had some great warm weather so I have worked up a nice little tan too. I am looking forward to the final few weeks ahead in the lead up to representing Australia. It still hasn’t quite sunk in that I will be going to an Olympics, but it is all starting to seem real. I even get my own Merida Reacto Road Bike with a custom Aussie paint job to ride at the Games, so that is very exciting. If any of you girls or ladies out there would like your own piece of 2012 London Olympic memorabilia, then one of my supporters over the last few years, Aquadiva togs, have made a special Goddess of London limited edition pair of togs for each of their Olympic athletes, and they are also available for anyone to purchase. They are hand made as they have crystals placed all over them which makes them so pretty. If you would like to check them out then go to http://aquadivaswimwear.com/olympic_suits1 to have a look. What’s even better is that Aquadiva is giving 100% of the sale price to one of their Olympic athletes of your choice. For now, its back into some more training before the final preparations for my race on August 4th. I am sure these next few weeks will fly by like the rest have, but I will be sure to soak up all the experience and excitement which will be coming my way. Until next time I hope everyone enjoys their training and keeps having fun. Get out there and have a go!
