A new course this year at Ironman 70.3 Florida will include a one lap swim in Lake Eva, more than likely with no wetsuits; a relatively flat bike with some rollers on an out and back course; and finishing off with a three lap run course.

We’d expect that USA’s Amanda Stevens will be first out of the water, and chasing her will be last year’s runner-up, Nina Kraft, who will also be up there in the swim, and third place last year, Heather Leiggi who has a strong bike leg – both are returning for a shot at the crown.

Amongst this mix this year will be Jessica Jacobs. Jacobs ran her fastest marathon (2:53) at last year’s Ironman Florida, breaking the course record, and joining the Sub-Nine club (8:55:10). She came fifth at the stacked field at Ironman Melbourne, and prior to that fourth at the Ironman New Zealand 70.3 (due to weather conditions the Ironman was reformatted to a 70.3).
